What is the Digital Entertainer HD?

The Digital Entertainer HD is a TV Set-Top Box which brings the world of digital media to your TV. You can view photos, listen to music and Internet radio, watch videos you download, watch live TV from a TV Tuner in a PC, or YouTube videos direct from the Internet.

 

Will it work with my TV?

The Digital Entertainer HD works with any TV. The Digital Entertainer HD has connectors for Composite (RCA) video, S-Video, Component Video and HDMI digital HD video and a SCART connector for European TVs. TVs with only an antenna connection can be connected using any widely available RF Modulator.

 

Will this work with Mac and Linux Systems?

Yes, but there are some limitations. A Windows PC is required for the following functions: Watching or recording Live TV using a PC TV Tuner card; Watching YouTube Videos; Listening or Watching to DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected content.

 

Can I use wireless networking?

Yes, the Digital Entertainer HD has integrated 802.11g wireless networking. However, be aware that wireless networking will support a limited number of video streams, and cannot support “Full HD” from a TV Tuner or 1080p format HD Video downloaded files. If you experience any difficulty with wireless networking we recommend the NETGEAR HDX101 powerline networking products.

 

Can I play protected content that I downloaded?

The Digital Entertainer HD is compatible with most protected content which uses the Microsoft Windows Media DRM formats and with iTunes protected audio files (.M4P). To play these formats you will need a PC with Windows Media Player 11, or a Viiv PC for WMDRM files, and a Windows PC with iTunes for Windows for iTunes protected audio files.

 

Do you support iTunes?

Yes, we can play back iTunes music. If you purchased songs on iTunes, you will need to have a Windows PC authorized to play these songs available on your home network when you try to play the protected songs.

 

How can I access the Electronic Program Guide (US only)?

The access code for accessing US EPG information can be purchased from the NETGEAR website  for a small fee.
