Troubleshooting Your HD Digital Entertainer
Great products should always work right out of the box. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case. Netgear's family of products are designed to work as effortlessly as possible, but we all know that sometimes things just happen. Whether it's a conflict with your existing home theater components, or just a set of dead batteries, our Troubleshooting Guide is the first step in letting us solve your problem for you.
Check out the list below. If the answer to your questions can't be found here, try starting a new Discussion topic. Chances are, someone on My Digital Entertainer may be able to help.

I turned on my Digital Entertainer HD for the first time, but I don't see anything on the screen.
- Check all of your cables to make sure they're connected properly, and be sure you are using the correct input on your TV.
- Check that your TV's input selector (sometimes called the TV/Video button) is set to the correct input.
- If you still don't see anything, press TV Mode on the remote control to change the video mode. Make sure to pause for 3 seconds between button presses to allow the Digital Entertainer HD to change video modes.
The Digital Entertainer HD doesn't respond to the remote control.
- Check the LED on the front panel of the Digital Entertainer HD to make sure the power is on. Make sure the television is turned on. If the LED on the front panel is not on push “power” on the remote and / or make sure the unit is plugged in.
- The LED on the remote control should flash when you push a button.
- If the LED on the remote does not flash, try removing and re-installing the batteries to reset the remote. If this does not help, replace the batteries in the remote;
- If this still does not work then the remote may be faulty. If the LED on the remote does flash, reset the Digital Entertainer HD by pressing and holding the Power button on the front panel for 5 seconds. You should see “Powering Up…” message.
The Digital Entertainer HD can't seem to find my network.
- For wireless networks, make sure that the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and security settings of the Digital Entertainer HD and media server match exactly.
- Use the Digital Entertainer Configuration Wizard, and check the settings. On the Windows start menu, select All > Digital Entertainer folder > Configuration Wizard.
Some of my files are either refusing to play, or they cause my system to reset.
The Digital Entertainer HD may not support the audio or video format used in the file. See the User Manual for information on what formats are supported.
The Digital Entertainer HD is unable to locate my server.
- Make sure that the computer and the Digital Entertainer HD are connected to the same network and turned on.
- If you do not use DHCP on your network, you must set the IP address of the Digital Entertainer HD in the range of addresses on your network.
- Use the Configuration Wizard to check the settings. On the Windows start menu, select All > Digital Entertainer folder > Configuration Wizard.
Some of my files/songs/videos aren't showing up even though others are.
Check the file permissions for those items and make sure they have "read" access allowed for "Everyone".
The server cannot be found in a Windows domain.
If the PC where the Digital Entertainer for Windows software is running is a member of a Windows domain:
- Make sure that you are connected to the domain (either by being on the same network, or by using a VPN connection),
- If this is not possible, uninstall the Digital Entertainer for Windows software and reinstall it using a local user account. Then set up sharing with the Digital Entertainer for Windows software while logged in with this local user account.
