Quick Tip: "Select" vs. "Play" in a List of Media

I watch Stargate SG-1 every morning when I work out. I own seasons 1-9 on DVD, but season 10 isn't out yet. So, I use the digital entertainer (the EVA700) to link the season 10 AVI files I downloaded to my ReadyNAS to the plain ole boring CRT in the basement by my treadmill.

When watching the DVD's, I would watch an episode while I worked out (43 min), turn everything off, come back the next day, turn everything on, and hit the menu button. The DVD was smart enough to know to default the cursor to the next episode. So, I'd press play and I was off and running.

On the other hand, if I'm looking at a list of content on my digital entertainer (such as the episodes in a season of SG-1), when I press play, EVA thinks it should play the whole list - regardless of where my cursor is. So, three mornings in a row (I'm on season 10, episode 4), I've turned everything on, clicked "ok" (the "select" button) to wake EVA up from screen saver mode, positioned my cursor over the episode in question, pressed "play", and had it kick in the season opener. Grrr!

So, the thing to remember is that (at least for the 700) "play" will play the entire list of content in a folder, where "OK" / "Select" will play the item (song, movie, whatever) which I currently have highlighted.
