Quick Tip: Enable Folder Browsing

[article image]

When I upgraded from the EVA700 to the EVA8000, one of the most difficult to swallow changes was that (out of the box), my 8000 flattened all my video files and folders into what seemed like a random soup of files that I had to browse through to find the video I wanted. Absolutely not what I was hoping for. I loved the way that the 700 did it... Allowing me to browse through a set of folders and files just like on my PC file system.

Turns out, this is not a shortcoming of the Digital Entertainer. All I needed to do was to "Enable Folder Browsing". This restored the hierarchical structure of my media files that I'd worked so hard to create on my NAS.

Here's how to do it...

Starting at the main menu, navigate through the following menus to change the setting...

Supervisor Functions → Advanced Setup → Local Settings

At the very bottom of the list (off the screen - you have to keep scrolling down, even though there is no indicator that there are more options "below the fold") is "Enable/Disable Folder Browsing". Make sure it's enabled for EVA to maintain your nifty (presumably well-thought-out) forum structure. Not sure why this is disabled by default, but I'm thrilled to death it can be turned back on.
