We're betting that you have at least a few movies. Many of you will have your own treasure trove. Others will have HUGE collections. If you've always wanted an easier way to view your library, read on, movie lover!
You may already know that the NETGEAR EVA8000, also known as the Digital Entertainer HD, can stream digital media files such as audio, video, and photos over your home network to your television and audio system. If you're new to the EVA8000, you can click here for more information on how to get started with it.
But... Did You Know Your EVA 8000 Could Do This?
But, did you also know that the EVA8000 has the ability to play ISO and IFO files? This will give you the ability to watch media in this format through your television, all the while preserving the original menu structure of the movie.
Introducing... the ReadyNAS Duo
There's one more question, though, before we clue you in how this works. There's strong evidence out there that a lot of people aren't properly backing up their libraries of digital media. Are you one of them?
If you haven't got a solution for backing up what's most important to you, you could consider NETGEAR's ReadyNAS Duo. The ReadyNAS Duo is a network attached storage device that's full of features to help you organize and keep your digital media safe. Here's a review of the ReadyNAS Duo if you'd like to learn more.
So, What Does This Have To Do With a Video Jukebox?
Actually, it has EVERYTHING to do with it! See, you can connect your ReadyNAS Duo and EVA 8000 over your home network for seamless media streaming... WITHOUT the need to have a computer up and running. The EVA8000 will "see" the ReadyNAS Duo over your network automatically, find the media, and display it for you on your television. Excited yet? First, we're going to talk about how to set up your ReadyNAS Duo to share your media.
Gearing Up Your Duo
You're going to have to do some basic setup with your ReadyNAS Duo in order to ensure the EVA8000 will work with it seamlessly, but you'll be surprised at how easy it is. You can refer back to the ReadyNAS Duo Review to learn more about the entire setup process.
After you've completed the basic setup process for the Duo, you'll want to make sure that you have your shares configured correctly. Take a look at this screenshot:

See how we've created some new shares? For this demonstration, we've created the "movietest" share (directory.) You may want to have the EVA search a separate directory only for the media you want to stream to your television, and creating a new share like this will suit you nicely. You can do this via the "Add shares" menu option on the left.
Once you have your shares created, you'll want to make sure that Guest access is enabled, so your EVA 8000 can find the share and stream media from it. Click the icon in the "CIFS" column next to the share that you want the EVA to use, and you'll see the screen displayed below.

Make sure the "allow guest access" check box is selected, and click "Apply." That's all you'll need to do here. Make sure that you follow this process for each share that you'd like the EVA to find.
Of course, you'll want to make sure that you add your media to these shares, so the EVA can find it. You may even want to make separate shares for your video and music files; it's entirely up to you.
If you plan on seeing descriptions, genres, actors, album art, and all the other goodies, you'll want to tag your media files. This is especially important if you plan on using the ReadyNAS as a media jukebox; you'll probably want to browse by album art and categories. Click here for more information on how to use the NETGEAR Tag Tool to do this.
Now, click "Next Page" below to go on to the next section - setting up your EVA8000 to stream from the ReadyNAS Duo.
