How To Use Multiple Digital Entertainer HD's (EVA 8000) In Your Home

If you're a media enthusiast, chances are that you've heard of the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer HD, also known as the EVA 8000. It's also likely that you currently own one and are enjoying using it right now.

I bet, though, that there's something you may not know... read on for more details!

Introduction to the EVA 8000 (If You're New To Streaming Media)

If you're unfamiliar with the Digital Entertainer HD, it's a home theater and entertainment component that allows you to stream your digital media (such as photos, music, and movie files) straight to your television through your home network.  You can stream wirelessly, or through wired Ethernet for faster speeds.

On To The Good Stuff... You Can Use More Than One!

Of course, you may already have known all of that, or you may already own a Digital Entertainer HD.  One way or another, you may not know that there are some special features that you can take advatnage of if you own more than one Digital Entertainer HD!

I'd like to take a moment to outline some of the features that you can take advantage of with multiple Digital Entertainer HD units.

#1.  Room Name

Let's say that you have one Digital Entertainer HD in your living room, and one in your bedroom.  You can give a custom name to each unit in the Local Settings option of the menu.

#2.  "Follow Me"

This is an awesome feature!  Imagine this:  you're in your bedroom, just relaxing and watching the game you recorded last night, when you realize that you have to get dinner started.  Of course, you don't want to miss the big score (but you don't want to miss burgers, either) and this is when the "Follow Me" mode comes into play.

All that you need to do is press the "Home" button, select the "More" option, and then "Follow Me."  You can tell the Digital Entertainer HD which room you are moving to, and the exact same show you were watching will now appear in the living room, without the need to dig through menus or media files to find what you were already watching.

#3.  Send Message

If you're watching or listening to something in one room of the house, and you just don't feel like walking up two flights of stairs or trekking halfway across the first floor to tell you son that he has to take a break from listening to his music and mow the lawn, you can just send him a message through the Digital Entertainer HD!

#4.  Monitor Other Digital Entertainer HD's

Speaking of your kids, wouldn't you like to know what they're watching or listening to?  Well, maybe you don't, but if you're ever curious, you can use the Monitor feature to see what they're up to.  Or, maybe you're in one room but want to see what audio is playing in another, and change it remotely.

Either way, you can see "what's up" by selecting the "More" option, then "Now Playing," and use the left and right buttons to scroll between rooms.

#5.  Whole House Audio

The grand finale culminates with a house-wide symphony, your favorite music playing through every room equipped with a Digital Entertainer HD in unison.

All you need to do is select the "Follow Me" option, and either select "Everywhere" or add rooms one at a time, and voila!  Whole house audio... just don't wake up the neighbors!

Conclusion

All in all, the Digital Entertainer HD is a great solution to your media streaming needs.  You can take your experience even further by adding more Digital Entertainer HD's to your home.  Follow some of the links below to learn more about the Digital Entertainer HD or purchase an additional unit for yourself!
