How To Use CinemaNow With Your NETGEAR Digital Entertainer Live (EVA2000)
Categories: How-Tos (EVA2000)
By now, it's likely you've learned a bit about what the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer Live (EVA2000) can do. It really specializes in streaming a variety of channels, Internet content, live television, and YouTube directly to your television. However, what if you want to rent or purchase a feature length movie without trekking down to your local video store?
The EVA2000 has the answer, and that's CinemaNow. The CinemaNow service is well known, and claims to be the #1 movie download service on the web. Here's a step by step guide on how to use it with your EVA2000.
How to Rent Movies with CinemaNow and EVA2000
Come on, who hasn't rented a video? Personally, I own very few movies, preferring to watch them only once or twice, so renting is the perfect solution for me. I know there are millions and millions of others who agree. Here's how to rent movies with the EVA2000.
Note: You need a USB hard drive connected to the EVA2000 in order to be able to rent movies from CinemaNow, given that the EVA2000 has no internal storage.

First, you'll need to navigate to the "Movies on Demand" section of your EVA2000 as shown above.

You'll then see the Movies on Demand gateway screen. Click the first "CinemaNow" button as shown above.

You'll be presented with a screen offering you several options to choose from, which we'll cover in detail later. If you already have a CinemaNow account, click the Login button and enter your credentials. The EVA2000 will remember these credentials so you don't have to enter them every time.

If you don't have a CinemaNow account, go to their official site and register - it's free to create an account. You can also set up billing information with a credit card so you can click, rent, and go. Note that the user manual seems to state that you can create a login directly from the EVA2000 - this did not work for me.
Selecting a Movie to Rent
So, you should now be all set up and ready to go. All that remains is to select that film you're dying to see and get it rented.
You can search for movies several ways from the main screen:
- Browse per Genre
- New Releases
- Most Popular
- or search for the one you want!

Once you find and select a movie to rent, you'll be able to see the full details of the film including a plot summary, actor listing, rating, and cost to rent. When you click the Rent button, you'll be advised that you'll be charged for the movie rental and you must re-confirm.

Once rented, the movie will be available for your enjoyment for 24 hours, after which it will expire.
Purchasing CinemaNow Movies on your EVA2000
Purchasing movies from CinemaNow works almost exactly the same way as renting them, except that you will be able to store them on your USB drive for viewing at any time.
Note: You must purchase your first movie from CinemaNow directly from your PC. You will not be able to purchase and watch your first movie on the EVA2000. After you make your first purchase with your PC, you will then be able to make subsequent purchases using the Digital Entertainer Live.

Once you have made your first purchase from CinemaNow on your PC, you can select the "CinemaNow BUY" option, which is to the right of the rent option on the "Movies on Demand" screen. Beyond that, selecting a movie to purchase works exactly the same way.
