I noticed the EVA9100 has support for Hulu, Netfix etc... Since the EVA 9100 is basically an EVA 9150 without the Hard Drive, will the EVA9150 also have this capability in the future? Is this a "windows" only feature?
Anyone?
Regards,
A somewhat disappointed EVA9150 owner.
PS: I'd love to see support for Boxee!

DOH! http://boxee.tv/box
EVA is about to get some real competition from D-Link [FWIW I am not a fan of D-Link products, but this box looks interesting indeed!]

I purchased this (EVA9100) as a present for my boyfriend's birthday. He LOVES it! The night he installed it and got it working, he began making plans to buy at least one more. I can guarentee I'm planning on getting one of these for myself in the near future.
PROS: Easy install. Plays nearly every media type you can think of. We did not (yet) test it with playing movies off our iPhones, but that should be soon. The 'extras' Netgear includes are cool too. Checking local weather, surfing YouTube in either windowed or full screen, the 'follow' mode if you have more than one hooked up to your network sounds awesome! Playing music through several of these in a 'party mode' is also a GREAT idea!! Can't wait to play with that.
The model without the internal hard drive seemed more appropriate to me since the standard size of hard drives is constantly changing and most people's DVD and BlueRay libraries will exceed 500Mb storage.
CONS: It's from Netgear, a company well known for it's networking products - so why not have a Gigabit (1000Mbps) network connection instead of just the 10/100?It would be nice to be able to add my favorite news channel to the already installed lineup of online video channels. (No Fox News in the list?!)
Upconverting is a cool idea, but 720p still looked a little choppy on a 60
@kermudgeon - I believe that PlayOn also works with the 9150, but I'm waiting for an official response on that. I checked the NETGEAR official site and you are correct, it doesn't mention PlayOn compatibility there for some reason.
@GadgetGrrl - Glad to hear you like the 9100. In my testing, I loved the EVA9150 and it was the most powerful media streamer I've used to date. It handled pretty much anything I threw at it!
Oh, and as far as playing movies on your iPhones, I'm not sure how you're implementing that but am curious to hear. I didn't believe the EVA9100/9150 has the ability to work with iPhones in any way.

Peter,
Is it safe to assume this is simply a firmware issue and will be an option in the future? Are there any plans to support Boxee as PlayOn only supports windows at this time?
If they are not already aware could you forward these links/images [see below] to whom ever is in charge of the EVA's UI design/development, and the Remote design/development at Netgear.

Yep, I have already passed this on to NETGEAR, so they will see your comments!
As far as Boxee, I'm not sure if this will be supported - let's wait to see what they have to say.

Good to hear, I'll keep an eye out for news on these topics then, hopefully it will lead to some much needed improvements to the EVA's overall UI design/navigation and future Remote Designs.
I'd gladly pay for a remote like the Boxee Box for the EVA9150!

What exactly is meant by "Blu-ray image support with subtitles" as seen here:

Can the 9100 be used as a Windows Media Center Extender? I am truly shocked at the lack of MCEs out there, but I am a huge Netgear (all my equipment is Prosafe) fan and looking to put an MCE in two rooms besides the one that has a Xbox 360. Also, I have to agree with oncern as to why the 9100 & 9150 only support 10/100 Mbps wired and not Gig?!
WOW!
I hope my EVA will be able to add Boxee... as this news will get me to switch to an ATV for sure... if Netgear's next build for the EVA9150 does not add some features like Boxee etc. [for Mac users]
