You know you're getting old when you start making comments like "600 channels and nothing to watch".  That's totally me anymore.  My old-fashioned tastes center around the SciFi channel (check out the SciFi TV blog on SlingCommunity) and misc other dramas (like Close to Home and Everwood, which recently ended).

So, what would I cite specifically as "favorites"?...  The whole Stargate franchise, Battlestar Galactica, The 4400...  Maybe a few others.

What about you?  Favorite shows?

Being digitally entertained...

I'm a Sci-Fi junkie, definitely in love with the Stargate franchise, BG, and the 4400. I also really like Eureka, Psych, Dresden Files, House, and 24 (Jack Bauer is THE ULTIMATE MANLY MAN!).

Since Rome ended, a favorite's been a tough call. There are several excellent shows on right now. Probably my favorite right now is Dresden, replacing Sopranos. The Sopranos' final season's turning out to be a huge disappointment to me (I mean, really, opening the season without offing someone in the first few minutes!?). At this point, I want resolution. I was hoping that Meadow would end up taking over as head of the family (particularly since a woman heads their associated/parent operation in Italy), Furio would return to take Carmela away from Tony (can't we give him to Melfi?), and Pauli would get creamed (he sooooo deserves it).

The Office - what an incredible cast of characters.

Yes, Sopranos was a very disappointing final season and ending...

Hard to argue that FX hasn't been putting out some doozies in recent years.  Top of my list are Rescue Me, The Wire, The Shield, Arrested Development (we miss you!), Family Guy, Entourage (sue me), Hustle, and Barney.

Wait... not Barney.

Then EVA ate Apple...

I'll limit myself to shows that are still airing new episodes:

  • Family Guy
  • The Simpsons
  • CSI: (the original... not this NY or Miami stuff)
  • Heroes (which also had a disappointing season finale).
  • The Office (love this one)
  • 24 (I don't care what people say. Jack Bauer still rocks after 6 seasons, and I want 10 more)
  • The Daily Show
  • American Dad

I love Family Guy. They got picked up for a fourth season, too. Seth McFarlane is a comic genius. :)

First of all, my house is "all sci fi all the time."

It used to be X-files, and Star Trek (especially Generations, but also Voyager). And lets not forget the much mourned Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

That's all prehistory, of course

Battlestar Gallactica! (when has a remake ever been SO much better than the original.... never!)

Stargate and clones... ah well, I'll watch it, but it doesn't satisfy. Like frozen pizza -- you eat it when nothing else is around.

And then there are the other cable dramas that have taken TV to a whole other level:

  • Rome
  • Sopranos (writing and acting -- beyond compare)
  • Six Feet Under
  • Big Love
  • The Shield
  • Entourage (if that isn't brilliant what is?)
  • Deadwood (Shakespeare with sixguns! I've decided to watch the whole thing through on DVD)
And finally House. Like all formula shows, it gets a little mechanical after a while -- but the first seasons were excellent.

Won't comment on 24 -- beyond saying: uh, we just differ.

So, can you judge someone by the shows they watch?

I am saying... Yep.

All you have to ask is, do they like the Simpsons. The answer tells you a lot!Wink
