This morning, I came downstairs to work out, like I do pretty much every morning.  I have my EVA8000 hooked up to my TV downstairs so I can watch Firefly or Stargate while treadmill'ing.  I typically just turn off the TV and receiver, leaving the EVA powered on (of course).

When I powered on the TV and receiver this morning, the digital entertainer was locked on a page with the nifty blue background and no text.  Had to reboot (hold down the power for a few seconds) to fix.

Has anyone else had this problem or troubleshooted it to discover a fix?

Thanks!

My EVA regularly gets in this state. Mostly after I've left it along for a prolonged period of time. I suppose it could be related to the fact that I shutdown the PC that serving as the media source. But I think there are multiple reasons that this box can hang or crash. I think it's just unreliable software in this thing. I have no ideas how to avoid it.

NetGear had better get this thing fixed ASAP or I would not be surprised if their reputation becomes trashed.

I doubt very much we'll see any reputation trashing ... the unit does a lot of things well.  I hadn't even though about the fact that it might be disconnection from the NAS device that locks it up.  Like you, I only see this when I leave it unattended for a significant period of time (days).  I'll keep my eye out for that correlation.

Just an FYI....

When you power the EVA off via the remote or front power switch, all it does is cut the video. The unit is still fully powered up. When you power up, it just turns the video on and resets the view to the main page. The lock ups are definately due to buggy software in the unit.
