I've been experimenting with more RSS feeds and so far here are a few feeds that work, and are actually worth watching:

CEREALIZED
http://www.cerealized.com/podcast/podcast.xml

This comedy series is reminiscent of 70's sitcoms, with a Seinfeld feel, and cable access show production quality. Compared to most web-based shows (and almost everything on YouTube) this show is well written, filmed and performed. Definitely worth checking out.

SHORT FILM OF THE WEEK
http://feeds.feedburner.com/ShortFilmOfTheWeekthis
I really enjoy short films, mostly because they lack the typical commercial influences, but also because they are a more accurate reflection of our societal views. This feed has some great films, unfortunately only about half of them are viewable with the EVA, but checkout this feed on the web to enjoy these films.

TACO WEDNESDAY
http://www.tacowednesday.com/podcast/tacocast.rss
Taco Wednesday is a comedy-centric independent film production group located in Berkeley, California. This collection of shorts are entertaining, but with a strong “Berkeley-style” message. Some of it can get pretty heavy, so if you’re in the mood for a sit-com, watch ‘Ceralized’.

YOUR AVERAGE ZOMBIES
http://www.youraveragezombies.com/podcast/feed.xml
This acting group provides some okay entertainment – not nearly as good as Ceralized or TikiBarTV. Their production quality is pretty low and their scripts are skits based on old dirty jokes. It’s what you would expect to find backstage at a high school play rehearsal when the teacher has stepped out and the kids get drunk. A few laughs, but not worth adding to your long term list.

I have not actually used the EVA to subscribe to RSS feeds like this.  Didn't even know you could.  Can somebody walk me through it?  Maybe give me a report on their experience?  Sounds like it's a pretty slick feature?

I watch a few video feeds via RSS on the EVA. It's really easy to do actually. An example would be watching something on Revision3's site.

First, go to the site and find the Video RSS feed with a supported file type link for it (on Rev3 it's called Vidcasting feed and in this example I will use WMV Large).

http://www.revision3.com/indigital

If you go to the above link, look on the right side and you will see the Vidcasting links. Click on the link with the file type you want and the address you need will be in the address bar of the browser. Now there are 3 ways to do this, the hard way (through the EVA interface), the easy way (through the web interface) or the easiest (by editing the rss.txt file directly).

EVA Interface

Go to Internet Media and choose add RSS feed. Enter the url to the feed via the remote and name it. When done, choose Refresh List and the one you added will be the last one on the list.

Web Interface

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your EVA in the address bar. This will open a menu that you can control the EVA through. Browse to the Internet Media area and add an RSS feed from there.

Edit rss.txt

This is the easiest, look on your share where the EVA stores it's configuration files. There is a directory named RSS. Inside that directory is a file called rss.txt which contains the list of feeds and their urls. Just add the link there following the format of the other entries. So for Indigital from Rev3, the entry would look like this:

"Video Podcast Indigital" "h**p://revision3.com/indigital/feed/wmv-large" (replace the ** with tt)

After editing the txt file, you will need to refresh the list on the EVA menu.

On the second 2 ways to add the feeds, you can right click on the feed link and choose copy shortcut. Then you can paste them into either the web interface or the txt file.

Hope that explains how to do this. Like I said, I watch a lot of vidcasts via the EVA. And in the newer firmware betas, they are adding support for more file types (I've been bugging them for XviD and MVK support).

Just cut "this" off the end and you'll get there....

I've been using the Miro application to subscribe / download a bunch of RSS videos and podcasts and then watch them on my EVA8000.

I just add the Miro download folder to my shares list and then EVA scans all the new episodes whenever they get downloaded automatically. There are thousands of RSS feeds to choose from some even in HD. Could also do this with my iTunes but didn't want to sync the HD / SD video files. Give it a try, it works great for me.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the EVA8000 streaming it from the Internet via the RSS feeds menu.

Agreed, I also stream RSS through my EVA8000 but for some of the non-streamable stuff like Rocketboom / NASA HD or videos I also sync to my iPod (now Zune) I find using Miro or iTunes more convenient.
