Are you using your EVA on a wireless network, or do you have it hooked up with a cable? For those of you who've tried it both ways, were there any significant differences in functionality?

If so, please discuss!

Going to hook mine up with a Netgear Wireless N bridge. (option 3)
Will let the group know how that works this weekend.

Hi,

We've made several connexion tests:

Wifi connexion between NAS and EVA using a Netgear Router/AccessPoint located 5 meters from the console was correct but the network test result was < 20Mb.

Wired connexion thru 2 PowerLine Adapters between NAS and EVA was extremely low with network test from 1 to 9Mb max. Be carefull, the PLAs doesn't support any interference. So if you have for exemple power supply for mobile phone, freezer, lights dimmers, oven, washmachines aso, on the same electric line, the theorical 200Mb speed should be far away!

Finaly and naturaly the best connexion is made by a CAT5e/CAT6 network wire. The network tests between our EVAs and our different NAS (MyBookWorld 2T, HP Servers, PC with DEW) connected where allway >20Mb...

For the 8000 there can be no doubt, you want ethernet first and foremost. Especially if you are planning on accessing the 8000 from multiple locations or remotely via the internet. It also depends on the quality of the video you are streaming accross the connection.
I have 3 EVA 8000's and 2 NAS boxes attached to my home network along with a Windows 2003 file server, 6 Windows XP Pro Desktops, and 2 Vista Biz laptops. Wireless or Powerline would be totally crushed under those traffic loads.
I am very interested in the MoCA bridges, perhaps they will really provide users a good alternative to running copper through the walls and using the existing RF cable most people already have.

i've got my PC connected to my ASUS WL600 wireless router via the network cable. My EVA 8000 is connected wirelessly to the router. I get a 15mb speed but my router is only on the other side of the brick wall. It's fine for standard video but HD video does tend to skip every now and then.
