Anyone successful on getting the EVA8000 to play .mov files? This is the only file format so far I cant seem to watch. Finding many video casts in .mov format and I can convert them to .avi however just takes so much time...

Thanks-john

It depends on the codec.  The digital entertainer supports most .MOV formats, but not all.  EVA8000 can play back H.264 MOV (high-def) files and MPEG-4 MOV, but some digital camera files (lower level MPEG-x formats) are not supported.

Do you know how your MOV files were encoded?

Jeff,

How would I find out what the MOV files were encoded in?  I have the files but not sure on how to find out that information...

Thanks-john

Perhaps it's time just to fix it?  Many of NASA's posted files will not play with this thing.

I'd say our expectations aren't high if only to play government  files?

It plays most of the 720p MOV trailers from the Apple site without issues. If you have the latest firmware it will play a majority of MOV files out there. Another place is Revision3.com (although the feeds are having issues at the moment), it plays the MOV files from there also. Remember, MOV is just a container, it matters what is in it for a format.
