I have a linksys wireless-G and the EVA-8000 can see it but will not connect wirelessly to the router with WAP either enabled or disabled.  Connecting via ethernet works fine.  Are there port settings on the router that need to be configured to make it work?

It's possible you have the router SSID disabled, which will prevent your EVA from seeing your router the first time if you haven't specifically input the router name in the setup screen. To make it easy, make sure SSID is on then try to connect. Try that and post back.

Thanks for the reply.  I had SSID both on and off - no difference.  I can see it but I cannot connect.  I had WAP on and off - no difference.  I had SSID on and WAP off and I can see the router and I can click on it but it says no go and to try again.  Should I send this unit back as defective.  It never has connected ever via wireless since I got the thing.

Have you tried the latest beta firmware update from the Netgear support site?  Don't know if there are any specific wireless improvements but might be something to try before sending it back.

The SSID is case sensitive and the EVA has a habit of capitalizing the first letter when it discovers it. Try entering it manually and see if it lets you connect. Also disable all security first on the router to rule that out.

Thanks guys for your response.

I haven't tried the beta firmware yet, but it's worth a try.  I'll let you know what happens.

I'll try entering the SSID manually as well and see what happens.  I've already tried it with WAP disabled (no luck) and I don't have anything else turned on for the LinkSYS security.

I'll be back...

Thanks WooFan99.  I finally managed to connect using the new firmware with no security enabled on the linksys.  It still will not connect with WEP enabled so I just do not broadcast the SSID and leave all the security turned off.  Works like a charm now that way.  Maybe a newer firmware will solve that issue later.  Trying to get wireless to work on this box has been a pain for the last few maonths.  Without you guys to help me out I would have been lost.  Thanks again...

I just updated to the latest firmware (today 07/02/08, Version 2.0.159) and I can now no longer see or connect to my wireless router (BT Home Hub). I have tried to discover it, no luck, I have tried typing the SSID in, no luck. I can connect via a wire without issue.

The Home Hub is fine I can connect from lots of other wireless devices in the house, and I can see it is broadcasting.

Anyone had any similar experiences with the latest firmware?

Turn off any security on your wireless to test and see if it connects.

Also, try using the "Reset to Defaults" option under the supervisor menu then try to connect to your wireless.
