Hi, mrstrace...

I played with an EVA700 briefly, but have since upgraded to the 8000, so this is from memory, but.....  Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a way to jump to a given letter of the alphabet, etc.  However, I don't remember it taking a lot of time for each screen to refresh as I moved downward.  Do you have your media files sorted into subdirectories?  That may help prevent you from having to scroll through long lists of files.  I tend to have mind laid out as follows...

Smallville
  +-- Season 1
  +-- Season 2
  Etc...

Anyway, just a quick suggestion that might help.

As to your question about using different media server software, I don't think so.  The power of the Digital Entertainer isn't in the software, it's in the lack of need for a PC to sit between your media and your television. I too have a Windows Media PC, and I tend to agree that its software interface is very mature.  I'm sure EVA's will mature over time as well. In fact, there's a significant difference between the 700's interface and the 8000's.

I would also recommend posting the suggestion to the product feedback forum to add the "Jump to M" kind of functionality you talked about. NETGEAR monitors that forum, and would be thrilled to hear your suggestion. Got others? Post them there too.
