My EVA8000 appears to be in a 'scanning loop'. It is stuck "looking for media files". There is no progress indicator and it just keeps scanning, I can see the counters increase as it finds the files. The menu button will not cancel the scan.

I am unable to get it out of this loop. I've tried power cycling (holding the power button), taking it off and putting it back on the network. I've restored the factory settings (both by the menu options and the reset button on the back), pulling the power cord for an extended length of time. Taking all the shares off the network.  I've tried updating the firmware, but in this state it is not reading the USB drive.

If I try to browse music, video, or pics, it only takes me back to the same scan page. Many of the Advanced setup options in the supervisor functions are displaying the same page.  The 'add network share' page informs me that a scan is in progress and wait for it to complete.

This is becoming very frustrating! Has anyone seen the same issue?

Neil.

First off.. some questions. What version is the firmware version currently? Wired or wireless? And when you say it is scanning and you see it adding files, does it ever get to a point where it stops adding and just hangs? Also, where do you store your media, how many files do you have and are you using the software that came with it on a pc? If you have a lot of files, it can take a while to scan (mine takes over an hour to complete a full scan). If you unplug it, disconnect it from the network and power it up, what exactly happens? Can you then update the firmware from USB while disconnected from the network?

From my server (W2K server) I could see the eva accessing mp3 files.  When I deleted this session it stopped the hanging.  I'm assuming it was a windows issue, as the server was not reset during this troubleshooting.
