I've had Batman Begins since it came out on DVD and I ripped it as an ISO, but when I scan for new media...Eva won't see it but it see's my home video which are WMV.  Frustrating to say the least; any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get my DVD collection to play on it.

Need more info on your issue. The EVA8000 sees and plays ISO images, so it is most likely something with the rip, your network setup or permissions. How did you rip it? Where is it stored, in the same place as your other media or new directory? How are you looking for it on the EVA? Please provive as much details as you can......

How did you rip it? ...with DVD decryptor

Where is it stored?... on my j:drive (desktop harddrive from seagate); I then moved it to my c: drive to see if it could access from there.  no success.

in the same place as your other media or new directory?...in a new directory: j:drive

How are you looking for it on the EVA? ...scan for new media

when set up the DEW it sees the j:drive along with my desktop.  It just can't access it when Iscan for new media.

Is there a way to tell eva what directory to access?

thanks for any advice you can offer.

actually, it now sees the drive.  i saved the movies as iso, but when i go to play it it says unsupported media mpeg-2.  i know i saved it as an iso.

Try re-ripping it again....

Is the tag tool required to play movies?  I have not tagged any of mine.

No... but the name of the movie will be whatever the ISO label is, not neccesarily the movie name. For example, I rip a movie and name it Movie1.iso when ripping it. The ISO label is DVD_1211 and will show up on the EVA8000 as DVD_1211 not Movie1 or the movie name.

You can try turning on "folder browsing" under the "advanced/other" menu then browse to the folder where the iso is stored. You will see what the EVA8000 thinks the name is and then should be able to find it on the "browse" list. You can also change the label on the ISO with the ripping software to something easy to find on the browse list.

pardizzone, I appreciate the guidance you are giving me.  Any idea as to why eva wouldn't be able to read the iso file?  I see batman_begins on the recorded video list, I press play, and the message "unable to read format mpeg-2 or file is located in an inaccessible location" comes up.

Frustrating to say the least.  I even tried it with dvdfab, with no results.  Again, I appreciate the guidance.

Check the permissions on the file. Make sure it has read permissions set for Everyone.....

Another thing you could try is to play it via a USB drive or stick if you have one. That will tell you if it's your network config/permission problem.

pardizzone,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

It was the permissions setting.  You may have just saved my marriage!
