I want to use a NAS to stream music to a EVA.

Which NAS do you guys recommend?

 I saw the Conceptronics CH3SNAS.

And do I need to install extra software on the NAS to make it work with the NAS?

 Thanks

Any NAS device should work with the EVA. It depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend on it. I don't use a NAS myself as I am running Windows Home Server on an old machine I had so I can't recommend a specific one. But a couple of notes..... The current version of firmware does "NOT" support uPNP as stated in the documentation. It only supports uPNP from Windows (WMP11) for DRM'ed (protected) content so a NAS with a built in uPNP server is useless at the moment. You don't need to load any software on the NAS, the EVA will read directly from the NAS's shares and store it's configuration files on it as long as it is a writable location.

Also, the upcoming ReadyNAS Duo is designed specifically to integrate really well with the EVA.  Watch the site for more information coming soon, but for now, you can check it out here:

But will the Conceptronics drive work. Because the ReadyNAS product that are in the market now are pretty expensive (out of budget).

Are there any minimal system requirements for the NAS to work with the EVA (stream HD files smoothly).

Thanks!

As long as it supports SMB type shares for a connection type (i.e. being able to map a network drive from it), it should work in theory.
