Hi 2 everyone !

Bought a Topfield 7700HDPVR recently to record HD movies & SD movies with 5.1 sound. This device creates *.rec files (is equal to *.ts i learned last weeks...), but i can´t play them on my EVA8000.

It starts fine, after some seconds (approx. 20) sound gets lost, after another 10 secs or so the picture starts to stutter & after some more seconds the EVA reboots....

Anyone any idea ? Read something about bitrate the EVA can probably not handle, but i don´t know what is the max. bitrate & could this be my problem ?

Download MediaInfo from here and open the file with it. On the view menu, change the output to text and post the output so we can see if it's just too high of a bitrate. Also, a lot of PVRs create files have errors in them that the unit it's recorded on can handle but will cause havoc with other devices (like the EVA8000). You can use a tool such as PVAStrumento to reencode the file from MPEG-TS to MPEG-2 without losing much quality if it is errors in the file causing the problem.

Looks some info is missing as I don't see the bitrate for the video section listed. Does it list what the bitrate of the file is?

Most likely the bitrate is too high. The EVA seems to choke on anything over 12Mbps and PVRs will usually create a file over 18Mbps. You can try to run it through the utility I posted above and see if it will play after that as it will clear up any errors if the file contains them. If that doesn't work, you will need to reencode them to something the EVA likes.
