Too many connectoers - please help!Frown

Apologies if this topic has already been queried, but I cannot find it in the forum.

I've connected my newly purchased EVA 8000 to my LCD TV via a Scart lead.  The TV has 2 x scart connectors and the red, white and yellow RCA connectors as well as an SVideo connector.  I also have a Sony amplifier/reveiver, to which I'd like to connect to avail of 5.1 surround sound.  My DVD player is connected to my amp via audio (red & white) and video (yellow) RCA.  My DVD player and amp both have coaxial (orange) and optical (fibre) connectors.

My question is this - what is the ideal connection configuration combination to give me the best quality sound and vision.

Thanks in advance - Odiedog!

I live in the US so I can't comment on the Scart connection but would think that would be the best way. For audio, you should be using the optical output from the EVA to your receiver. This way if you have any media that has Dolby or DTS you will be able to decode it if your receiver supports it.

Hi. In America we don't have SCART but I know it's for digital audio and video. Your TV connection to EVA is ok to get best picture and sound to your TV. I presume that your amp has no SCART connector so you cannot use your amp as a audio/video switcher to the TV. You have to use your TV to switch video outputs from EVA and DVD and use your Amp to swith their digital audio outputs. Your DVD video connection is the least in quality. Try to connect your DVD to the component video input (green, blue and red if available)  of your TV or the S-Video input wich is much better than your actual composite connection (yellow). The digital audio output of the EVA and DVD could be connected to digital audio inputs of your Amp with both or a mix of coaxial and optical cables. You will soon realized that you need an programmable remote control to synchronize selection of video and audio ouptuts from your TV and Amp but it’s an other game.Note  DTS

With digital audio you may have an issue with DTS since EVA cannot downmix DTS to stereo digital output. If your Amp has no DTS your will get big loud noise with DTS tracks. If so, you have to use the analog audio (white and red) connections between EVA and Amp. You may keep your DVD digital audio for DD 5.1 audio tracks. Hope your Amp is DTS.

Thanks to both for your quick responses and useful suggestions.

One last query (for now). Is it possible to have an output from the EVA (ie music) without having the TV switched on.

Sure, as long as it's outputting audio to your receiver, you can use the web interface to start your music without turning the tv on. Just open a web browser and enter the ip address of the EVA and you will get a web interface to control it.
