Hello,

On this page http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101693.asp are supported video formats by EVA 8000, and .m2ts files are included. But when I try to play .m2ts files which I have recorded with my Sony HDR-SR1 E I get a message "Unable to play selected media".

Does anybody an idea how is it really with EVA 8000 and .m2ts files?

Thanks a lot

Ivan

It should play the files as is or you can try renaming to .ts and see if it plays. What version firmware are you running on the EVA? Also it could be the quality setting on the camera (set too high for EVA). If you run the file through MediaInfo (Google it) and change the view to text, it will show you the bitrate on the file. Anything over 12 MBit could cause issues with playback.

Hello,

thank you for your answer.

I have the latest firmware - a version 2.0.159 IS
I have also renamed the files to the *.ts. A playback starts, but it is not fluent, mostly without sound and sometimes restarts EVA.

The bitrate is about 15 Mb, which I wouldn't like to not change.

Is there any solution? Or is there another HD media player? What about Popcorn or Tvix? Or Sony Playstation 3? Any experiences?

It's most likely due to the bitrate being to high. Anything below 12Mbit seems to work (unless it peaks over 15Mbit on busy scenes). As far as other players, I don't know about the TVIX but I do own a Popcorn Hour and it plays everything I've thrown at it (including files the EVA won't play).
