I have recently added a ReadyNAS duo to my kit but am not able to see any files or directories on it through the tag tool. I am able to see and copy files to the NAS using windows explorer. Using the tag tool, I can see the network name but when I click on the arrow to expand and see the directory names, nothing shows up. I have also mapped one of the shares on the ReadyNAS but the tag tool also doesnt see this.

Thanks

Ian

Hmm... it sounds like you've done the right things to be able to access the ReadyNAS. I experienced some trickiness with the tag tool as well. I would ensure that the format of the movie files are ones that the tag tool can support. I can't quote off the top of my head exactly which ones those are, but maybe one of the experts out there can fill us in.

From what I remember, I tagged the file locally on my hard drive. Then, I copied the media over to the ReadyNAS with the tag file. It's an extra step, but it worked for me.

I'd love to hear from others who have tackled this, either with the ReadyNAS or other attached storage device.

Hi Ian and Peter,

I use Network storage in the way of a Windows Home Server (self build).

I have no problems accessing the files on the Server. All files show up in Tag Tool, without problems, as far as I can tell.

The only problems as such that I have, is when I`m playing back the video`s on the EVA8000, for some reason the EVA does not show all the information. It displays, the cover picture, Director, Film Date, Certificate, Actors, but not the actual Review Information, even though I saved it. Some videos show this information, but some don`t.

As Peter suggests, as long as your using a supported file type, simply copy your files to your local hard drive, TAG them, then copy your files, including the TAG files back to your ReadyNAS.
