Hi there!

First, I'd like to say hello to the community - I'm german, living in Switzerland.

My configuration:

EVA8000 connected wired to router d-link DI-524
Qnap TS-109 II pro connected also wired to DI-524
DVB-Set-Top-Box with Linux (called dbox, similar to dreambox) also connected wired to DI-524
The DVB-Set-Top-Box uses NFS which is also supported by the Qnap TS-109.

My problem:

Recorded video will be scanned from EVA8000 well and showed up. Trying to play these .TS-files will only show video but no sound! I've recognized that streams with only mpg-audio are playing fine with audio also. Recorded video which contains also ac3 streams inside have this above mentioned bug (no sound).

What can I do? Do I have to set special user rights to the folder where the recorded video is located? Sounds not very senseful, because mpeg audio videos plays and sounds well. If I run the video through an audio/video processing tool, called projectX (great for dvb-streams), and play afterwards then with EVA8000 sound is present! Does this mean my DVB-Set-Top-Box doesn't record the stream properly or more likely the tv station broadcast a non-conform dvb-stream?

It's a really pitty - because video playback with the DVB-Set-Top-Box results in stuttering, as the hardware is too old and too slow (67 MHz CPU, 10 MBit network!) but would be fine with EVA8000 - but without sound not very amusing. I don't want and have not enough spare time to perform video processing with down- and uploading the files and so on which would be medieval in these days.

Anyone ideas?

Thanks.

What do you have the EVA8000 set to for AC3? Passthrough or Stereo? If set to passthrough and you don't have a receiver/tv that can decode it, you won't get sound. Setting it to stereo will correct it.

"everything will be ok in the end. if it's not ok, it's not the end" - unknown

thnx - sorry, but it's not so simple. The recorded video contains ac3 but was played chosing track mpeg-audio! When switching to a/v-receiver (ac3 system) there's also no sound. I think there's a problem with mapping adresses of the audio tracks within EVA8000. Whether the problem lies on EVA8000 or my DVB-Set-Top-Box - that's the big question.

download popcorn audio converter, pop the file with dts in in it, convert it to normal ac3 and then send it back to the eva - plays perfectly then with sound.

any problems, me know - it is easy and remember to "replace your file"

the file you have is probably recorded in dts, and you have not got dts set up on the eva - hence you not hearing anything.

I'm new at this so could be wrong, but it's worth a try.
