Good luck, Alister. I asked a similar question last week involving a Netgear NAS and the EVA9100 not seeing *any* media files on it despite the fact that my DLNA-compatible TV's can see all of the files (and play them). My question has been met with complete silence at this site and two "we're escalating the issue" promises directly from Metgear support -- but no actual help. If I am able to resolve the issue, I will report back.

Hello all,
New EVA9150 user here after my basic D-Link DSM-520 media box died. It is wirelessly connected to my ReadyNAS NV+ 6TB and over half full. I love all the features this 9150 has but it is taking some time to get used to.
This is my basic issue- I am not seeing all my media showing up on my 9150 (and I have a ton of it).
Right now, the root, shared /media/ folder is split into various folders like family photos, action movies, horror movies, etc. I am getting all the action movies listed but not the horror folder. I let it sit overnight to see if it would sync to no avail. What am I missing? Not sure I am doing the folder view either because I can't find it to turn it on.
Thanks in advance.
(If using UPNP, see note at bottom.) Since the EVA9100/9150 uses standard SMB protocol to access shares on the network, you might want to actually check with the ReadyNAS folks for help on this since it's most likely a permissions issue. There are a couple of things you can check/try that might help:
- On the EVA, turn on "live folder browsing" in the Supervisor menus under Advanced -> Other under the Folder browsing dropdown.
- In the ReadyNAS under the Advanced tab for the share containing your media, reset the permissions so everyone has access to the share. (If this works, then it is definitely a permissions issue)
Additional note: The EVA9100/9150 uses an older version of the UPNP client, so it will not work with the newer UPNP server in the ReadyNAS. Instead you need to use standard SMB sharing to access the media on network shares.
try using DLNA - it works much better than UPNP ever did. Also you should check the Routers Firewall if the UPNP-Ports are allowed for internal use. Most of this Homenetwork-Routers dont have enough Bandwith on their Backplane for streaming media, this can be the fault when videos ar not playing correct.
