EVA8000, ReadyNAS Duo, and Linux setup?

I recently got my paws on a shiny new ReadyNAS Duo, and I LOVE it so far. Setup in my Mac system went beautifully and I can't wait to test out all of its features, now that I've perused all the settings, manual, etc. For now, I'm especially curious about how the setup goes on a Linux system. One great thing about it is that all three systems (Mac OS X, Linux, Windows) are supported and there are installation materials for all three on the included disk. Have you set up a ReadyNAS Duo in your Linux system? Do you also have an EVA8000 integrated in with your Linux system? I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially since I'd like to try Ubuntu 8.04 in Boot Camp :)

EVA700 JPEG issues

hello, I have just purchased an EVA700. It is connected to my netgear n series wireless network onto which a maxtor shared storage II NAS is connected which runs npnp. I store my itunes data from my mac/pc/linux on this NAS. Firstly it appears that only mp3 and not m4a (itunes CD ripped) formats can be read. Can folks confirm that this is correct ? On a more confusing issue, I have a directory on the NAS with .jpegs in. All appear on my TV listing through the EVA700, although only some can be selected and displayed, and am confused why this might be the case. I have heard the jpegs with PROGESSIVE have issues, but I don't think that this is my issue. Are there any other known issues with jpegs ? Some hints. MAC photo booth can be viewed JPEGS exported from iPhoto cannot be selected or viewed JPEGS from my camera loaded onto the NAS from my linux (mandriva 2008) cannot be selected or viewed. I look forward to your collective wisdom best regards Colin Thomas

EVA-8000 Software and NAS or Media Servers

I am considering the purchase of one or more EVA-8000 units and wanted to better understand the purpose of the software that comes with it. I have a Infrant (now Netgear) NV+ NAS which I understand can stream media without any additional software. In addition, it runs Linux, so I could not install any Windows software anyway. I could install TwonkyMedia NAS Add-on ( http://twonkyvision.de/Products/TwonkyMedia/devices.html ) if necessary. I haven't figured out if I would need it yet. Any NV+ users who have had experience with this? I also have the same question regarding the EVA software if I decide to use Windows Home Server (probably the HP model). I assume that the software will install on it (uses Windows Server 2003 as a base), but WHS already include Windows Media Connect 2.0 for streaming. Do I need that and the EVA software also. Any comments would be welcome. Finally, one additional question. I have about 200 hours of home video. I would welcome suggestions on what would be the best format to encode this in for streaming to the EVA-8000. Thanks for the assistance. Jim

Any interest in NETGEAR's open source router?

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the MyOpenRouter.com site. It is getting ready to launch soon (before CES), and will be a sister community to this community, where folks will be discussing the NETGEAR KWGR614 open source router platform and related topics. Does anyone own or have any interest in the KWGR614? Has anyone built any custom firmware on top of the router's platform? If you're interested in the new community, make sure you sign up on there to be notified when it goes live. Or, just keep an eye out here. We'll be announcing it.

Are you using your EVA on a wireless network, or do you have it hooked up with a cable? For those of you who've tried it both ways, were there any significant differences in functionality? If so, please discuss!
