I wanted to let everyone know that the EVA2000 and WNDR3700 are designed to work together, with the ReadyDLNA server. Basically, all you have to do is connect a USB external drive to the WNDR3700 router and power cycle the system. Then, when you boot up your EVA2000, the ReadyDLNA drive will show up in your list of shared network devices seamlessly. This is a great way to extend your network stored media even further and take advantage of the powerful WNDR3700. Has anyone set this up in their own homes? What kind of experiences are you having?

I just found WGT624 v4 is using the Redboot( http://ecos.sourceware.org/redboot/) as the bootloader, which is under the GPL license( http://ecos.sourceware.org/ecos/license-overview.html) So, follow the license, if the developer modified the original code of the Redboot, they should open source the changes. But I can't find the Redboot code under the Netgear's GPL ftp(ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/GPL/). Since the Netgear's modified Redboot checked my own firmware and refused to write in. I have no way to continue my development with it. Maybe, your source code should be opened more completely?

Hello Over the years I have collected a movie library in the hundreds. MY WIFE has given me the wife ultimatum and now must find a storage solutions in do haste. My research has lead me to Western Digital’s ShareSpace 8tb hard drives. There seems to be a multitude of options all with different pros and cons. I narrowed my choice down to the ShareSpace because of cost and ease of use but not sure of the capability issues with EVA 9150. Can anyone help shed light if this might be the right approach and or different options out there? I need my life to return TO some sort of sanity in home and movie theater Thank you JMB

There is only one thing that seems to miss this environment to be perfect: the ability to stream Youtube videos WITHOUT installing a Digital Entertainer for Windows software. Is it possible to rely solely on my Readynas? If not, is there a chance to have a youtube module running on my readynas developed one day? Thanks for your help!

I recently got my paws on a shiny new ReadyNAS Duo, and I LOVE it so far. Setup in my Mac system went beautifully and I can't wait to test out all of its features, now that I've perused all the settings, manual, etc. For now, I'm especially curious about how the setup goes on a Linux system. One great thing about it is that all three systems (Mac OS X, Linux, Windows) are supported and there are installation materials for all three on the included disk. Have you set up a ReadyNAS Duo in your Linux system? Do you also have an EVA8000 integrated in with your Linux system? I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially since I'd like to try Ubuntu 8.04 in Boot Camp :)

If I cannot get another, what other software can I use. Because once I blow away the drive(nothing to do with the EVA), I will not have any software to use to connect to the EVA. Can I use the EVA8000 software? I have two machines and 3 year old who knows where the movies are! Oh yeah, and how or where do I create playlists? Please help Steve

hello, I have just purchased an EVA700. It is connected to my netgear n series wireless network onto which a maxtor shared storage II NAS is connected which runs npnp. I store my itunes data from my mac/pc/linux on this NAS. Firstly it appears that only mp3 and not m4a (itunes CD ripped) formats can be read. Can folks confirm that this is correct ? On a more confusing issue, I have a directory on the NAS with .jpegs in. All appear on my TV listing through the EVA700, although only some can be selected and displayed, and am confused why this might be the case. I have heard the jpegs with PROGESSIVE have issues, but I don't think that this is my issue. Are there any other known issues with jpegs ? Some hints. MAC photo booth can be viewed JPEGS exported from iPhoto cannot be selected or viewed JPEGS from my camera loaded onto the NAS from my linux (mandriva 2008) cannot be selected or viewed. I look forward to your collective wisdom best regards Colin Thomas

I am considering the purchase of one or more EVA-8000 units and wanted to better understand the purpose of the software that comes with it. I have a Infrant (now Netgear) NV+ NAS which I understand can stream media without any additional software. In addition, it runs Linux, so I could not install any Windows software anyway. I could install TwonkyMedia NAS Add-on ( http://twonkyvision.de/Products/TwonkyMedia/devices.html ) if necessary. I haven't figured out if I would need it yet. Any NV+ users who have had experience with this? I also have the same question regarding the EVA software if I decide to use Windows Home Server (probably the HP model). I assume that the software will install on it (uses Windows Server 2003 as a base), but WHS already include Windows Media Connect 2.0 for streaming. Do I need that and the EVA software also. Any comments would be welcome. Finally, one additional question. I have about 200 hours of home video. I would welcome suggestions on what would be the best format to encode this in for streaming to the EVA-8000. Thanks for the assistance. Jim

Now the PC has moved elsewhere in the house and has been replaced by the EVA in the living room. Windows Explorer and will not "see" the EVA as a drive or via "My Network Places". Does anyone know if it is possible to see the EVA USB port remotely?

Had terrible trouble with my XP (SP2) Winamp 11 set-up (I dont run Media Center version). The EVA would not connect to the PC each time, when it did the show the "Music, Pics, Video" menu the next click always failed to show any content - just an error message. I downloaded Twonky and installed and have had no problems at all. Turned off Winamp sharing and didnt look back. Seems to be a problem with tagging though, the "Folders" option appears twice on the EVA and the "Albums" and "Artists" lists are not as expected. I wil try running the tagging tool on the Netgear CD and let you all know how it goes. Logan

I was very happy with the Netgear M101 device, and expected great things from the EVA700 when I purchased it last year. Overall I have been very disappointed with the product's unreliable nature and tendency to crash or slow to a crawl when browsing through the menus or in the midst of playback (even over a wired connection). I do see great potential, however it just isn't realized... at least not at the level it should be. I have upgraded the firmware and that does seem to have helped stabilize the system somewhat. The function I miss most from the M101, which was not addressed in any firmware or software upgrades I've performed on the EVA700 to date, is alpha search. On the M101 I could type in the letters of a track title, artist, album, etc., and the listing on the device would auto scroll as I typed. With over 4,000 artists in my music library, this is really essential... or if not a search, the interface at least needs a way of quickly browsing through the folders without waiting 5-10 seconds for each screen to load. If I wanted to play something by an artist with the last...
