A friend of mine bought an EVA9150 player against my advice (he returned it after using it) and well cant say I was terribly impressed with it either, Netgear have really fallen behind the times and the competition is better in every way. Netgear EVA units are not recommended on any of the forums were media players are discussed in details, the likes of the Popcornhour and WDTV Live have blown the EVA out the water with good reason. The dozens of Realtek powered players all on the market are only contributing towards Netgears envitable exit (FYI this forum is practically dead). Now that's not good as less competition is bad for the consumer and I would like to see Netgear do well. As someone familiar with the desires & the buying practices of media players this is what Netgear need to do if you would like to actually dominate the market rather than whatever it is your doing now (twiddling thumbs ?) * The player has to have the same level of media support as a Sigma Designs powered WDTV Live or PCH A-200 or Realtek 1073DD chipset * DVD/ISO menus are a must, Blu-ray menus are not essential...

I found the lack of ability to browse a network drive a real pain as I have transferred all my ripped dvd's to a nas and have now started tagging them. When you hit the browse button you are unable to get to a network drive by default but .... there is a way round this. say you have mapped your nas drive to Y: when you hit the browse button and it prompts you for a folder just enter y:\ in the folder bit and press return and then it browses your NAS drive. you can of course put in more subfolders as well to limit your search e.g. y:\Shared Videos\dvd rips\movies\ This has saved me a lot of copying back and forwards between NAS and pc

Can I use my networked EVA9150 as a backup device?

Hi, The title says it all. I have an EVA9150 (with 500Gb HD, firmware ver 2.4.68 AU) on my wired home network. Everything works fine and I'm very happy with the device which i purchased about 10 months ago (other than the fact that the price dropped markedly not long after I bought it). I'm wondering if I can use the EVA9150 as a backup device from my home computer running Windows Vista Ultimate SP2? I currently use the windows backup/restore software. If anyone can shed light on this I would be very grateful. Many thanks, DLW

Hi, I am new to this site and not yet a Net Gear user. I just moved into an older house and want to be able to drive all of my TV's from a central system and need some help figuring out what to do. This is what I would like to do: - Have access to all stored media at multiple points in my house (my ripped movie collection, Itunes, Satellite boxes) - Be able to stream live satellite signal to any or multiple tvs at the same time. - Have a wireless network extended to different areas of the house. This is what I have to connect: - 2 TVs (may add up to 4 more in the basement for sporting events) - 1 HD Projector - 1 PS3 - 2 USB external drives (one hooked up to the PS3 and 1 for computer use) - 1 Apple Time Capsule (wireless N portal) - 1 Telus wireless router (I just plug the time capsule into this and use it for wireless, but it has wireless capabilities as well, but it is slower than the time capsule) Any help would sure be appreciated. Stu.

Whoa! I was shocked of the catastrophic earthquake done in Haiti. Mass of Hitians were killed and injured. Some lose their properties (e. i houses, dresses , furnitures, appliances etc.) , money, love ones, pets, and even their life. We cannot blame Mother Earth why we suffer this unbearable and teryffying situation. I guess it's just a sign that we should care about nature. Earthquake is just one of the horrying phenomenons that we must prepare for.

I just got an EVA2000. So far liking it. I also have a NETGEAR SC101 network storage device that is not hooked up at all though. Since both are NETGEAR products, ANY chance they can work together? Or am I dreaming here since the SC101 requires specialized software to be installed on a PC in order to see & access it?

Have all the experts given up on this machine now ? If I could just get Youtube working directly from the EVA I might not throw this frustrating piece of kit in the trash !

I just purchased and received your EVA9000 from Neatgear.com. Because I am disabled, I am not able to "run" to one of your ****-poor retailers (like Best-Buy) to return a defective product I bought directly from Netgear. I bought this product directly from Netgear to avoid the headaches of dealing with second-rate retailers. I received your EVA9000 on Friday April 24, 2009 and had it installed on my home entainment system today, Saturday, April 25, 2009. The main unit powered up and the setup menu was visable on the TV monitor. Unfortunately, the remote did not work so I was unable to proceed further. I made the mistake of calling Netgears general number and reached the "Tech Support" team in India (Case #: 9262267). The "Tech Specialist" - Prema (employee # 1658), was difficult to understand and was curt and indifferent. This highly skilled employeed offered me three choices: 1) Repackage Netgear's defective product, arrage for UPS of Fedex to pickup the package, and pay to return it to Netgear, 2) Pay Netgear $16.00+ and Netgear would presumably send me a replacement that worked, or 3) Pay Netgear $30.00+ and I would not only get a replacement, but get "Super-duper"...
