I am sure when i first bought the unit it had 16:9 capabilities in the menu for a/v but upgrades seemed to have completely wiped that out. Any help greatly appreciated, thank you

Hi all, I have just bought a EVA 2000 and wanting to connect to internet. I only have wireless broadband that connects to my laptop. So I am expecting it to not work if just plugged to usb of the EVA. I have successfully connected my PS3 with a ethernet crossover cable ( pretty sure it was this cable) to my laptop to get internet on it from my wireless card. I have bought another crossover cable to do same with EVA but cant get it work this way. Is it possable to do or do I have to run EVA from a router. I do have have a netgear router that I plug my usb internet stick into and run my laptop and PS3 with but dont have it with me. Dont really want to carry a lot of stuff around with me when traveling. Thanks for looking, hope someone can help. Cheers Brad

Newbie Question - Unable to access Internet TV

H I bought a EVA2000 off eBay (new) and spent most of last night trying to to get the EVAW111 to connect to my wireless router but that's another story. (My fault for having a 64 character key!) After finally getting connected, I could access YouTube files (surprisingly good quality!) and I can search for online videos. I cannot connect to a NAS Drive that I have on the router but that's probably cos I've got Windows 7 Ultimate and screwed everything done when I was installing it last year. My problem is trying to access Internet TV. As soon as I click on the menu options, the screen goes black for a split second and takes me back to the menu options. It doesn't appear to be even attempting to break out into the big wide world. I've not installed any additional software and according to the blurb I shouldn't have to. I've gone through the online manual again and it seems so straight forward and easy to do that I can only assume it's my setup. I'm using Agnitum Outpost Pro - the fact I can access YouTube etc makes me thinks there is not an issue there...

Why does my EVA2000 assume my Internet connection is down even though I have full Internet access and network functionality on the two computers my wireless network? I can't seem to go more than a week without my Netgear EVA2000 losing its ability to join my network even though my SSID shows up with full signal strength in the Network Settings. The only solution seems to be rebooting my DSL modem and router. This is incredibly frustrating! Can anyone propose a solution? When I went into my router configuration (Netgear model WNR1000), the two IP addresses normally assigned to my two EVA2000s were not shown. Thanks, Tim

I currently have the EVA2000 connected via composite A/V cables to a home theater receiver. This receiver uses an older HDMI that does not carry audio, just video and data. I'm assuming I can send video to the receiver via HDMI and audio out using the composite cable WITHOUT THE YELLOW PLUG CONNECTED TO THE AMP. Will there be any problems? This is how my Sony upscaling DVD player is set up. Thanks for reading.

What's the bottleneck: N150 router or DSL bandwidth?

I'm using my new EVA2000 with the EVAW1100 USB wireless-N adapter. My wireless router is a Netgear RangeMax N150, model WNR1000. YouTube videos play great, but using PlayOn, the more desireable Hulu and CNN videos are choppy even with Video Quality set to Low (Auto setting is worse). My PlayOn software is running on a Dell Studio XPS 9000 (Core i7-920, 6GB, 64-bit Vista Home Premium) with Dell Wireless N PCI card, connecting at 65 Mbps due to range (2nd floor router to basement PC). My Internet service is 2.4 Mbps average DSL. With the understanding that YouTube videos are more highly compressed, I'm wondering what will fix my PlayOn problem. Full-speed 300 Mbps Wireless-N router? Better wireless-N card in the PC (my XP computer connected to the same router at 135 Mbps. Faster Internet connection? I don't want to run Ethernet cable all over the house. I don't have choppy HD video on the basement PC when using ABC's Full Episode Player, so I don't think the 65 Mbps wireless card is the problem. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate your input. Tim

My new EVA2000 is connected to my Yamaha home theater receiver by Composite A/V. I don't know if I have a damaged cable or bad Composite output jack, but I hear a faint 60-cycle hum. When I try to reposition the cable, I sometimes hear static, indicating a bad connection. The noise has gone away for now, but the slightest touch to the composite A/V cable can bring it back. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm hoping that the connection improves once I get the EVA2000 in its "permanent" location, but if not I will try to exchange the unit from the Best Buy store that was selling it at clearance pricing.

Hi guys, hope someone can help with this frankly rather irritating problem! Basically my EVA 2000 just arrived so I connected it to my tv via hdmi, connected my usb drive (1TB, 700 mb free)to it and everything started up ace. I browsed my usb drive, found an 8 min long video and watched it. Worked perfecly! However, everything I have watched since doesn't work so good. The sound basically jumps and starts, and for every five seconds of video (that plays seamlessly) I only get a split second of sound. Do I just need to update the firmware? This could unfortunately be an issue as I'm connecting to the net via a 3g modem, therefore the eva 2000 won't be able to connect. Any ideas? Thanks!

DE works fine w/ wired connection (all menu items function well). However w/ EVAW111 USB Wireless VuNow Popular Websites causes box hang/freeze, and Internet TV runs one feature selection but hangs if the main menu or back button is subsequently used. The Popular Website menu functions up to the point of a feature selection. The video does not load, and the DE box light goes to red and freezes. After a long wait the DE displays an alert "broadband is down" (not valid). DE w/ wireless USB runs YouTube, Network media, and PlayOn content fine. The only issues seem to be w/ VuNow related. Netgear tech says "must be (your) router (Westell 372)" and/or "must be the 3rd. party VuNow app". I have a number of wireless devices all running flawlessly on the wireless network. VuNow has been trying to figure out the problem. Verizon Online (ISP) has zero interest in dealing with the Westell hardware. Netgear seems clueless.

I am very much a computer novice so be gentle. I unboxed my digital entertainer today, thinking if this works, it'll be tyhe device of my dreams. I realised I needed the evaw111, which I went out to buy today, but noone on the high street seems to sell it. So decided to order one online. Not being the most patient of folks I decided to detach the router from the pc in my study upstairs, bring it down and use to create a wired connection for the Digital entertainer. All seemed to be going well until I played a music video via Youtube and it kept stopping with a message reading buffering. I would usually associate this with a bad/slow internet connection, so I went on to the speed test in the settings menu, which told me my connection was something like 286kbps! I didn't believe this so I unplugged everything, took my router back upstairs connected to the internet on my pc and went to www.speedtest.netgear.com as recomended by the manufacturer which tells me I am getting 3475kbps? Can anybody out there help? Thanks in advance, Andy.

I recently purchased a EVA 2000 to stream media from a HP Media Vault Generation 1 (MV1). After some initial problems I finally achieved viewing my media files on the EVA 2000. nevertheless after about 1minute of browsing, the connection suddenly was lost and it cannot be reactivated unless i turn off and then on the media vault. After doing this the files are showed in the EVA 2000 for about 1 minute and then again the connection is lost, I can browse files or play anykind of media stored in the media vault but just for that short period of time. Does anybody know what might be happening here???

However, I have a family member who has one, but it isn't currently connected to the internet or their home network at all (working on it) & they are using it strictly with USB thumb drives for file playback of video files. Can they somehow update the firmware via USB like I did with my older Western Digital media player (USB only)? Also, any kind of 'about' section on the EVA2000 that i can go to that will tell us our current firmware version?

I see others are having various problems sending content to the Entertainer by network. I too am MYSTIFIED. I went through the complete setup instructions, including the setup of Media Player 11 on my Win XP machine. Everything seemed to work, but the only videos my DE can find are a few in "My Documents\My Videos. The dozens of other videos that are stored in other places on my machine are inaccessable. Media Player has them in its "library" and plays them, but not DE, even though Media Player is set to share everything. I saw suggestions in this forum that it might be enough that the directories containing videos are "shared" on the network. They are. It doesn't help. It doesn't seem to matter if Media Player is running or not. (Which is correct?) The only things DE can find are in My Videos, My Music, or My Pictures. How am I ever going to get it to play from my server computer which will soon have nearly 1 Tbyte of music, photos, and videos? I think I will have to return this device and get something else. I convinced a family member in FL to get one and hers should be arriving next week. I will be visting her for the Thanksgiving holiday so will be put in charge of setting it up for her. Here is the setup situation I am going to have to work with; she just moved into a condo that has full ethernet network jacks in all rooms and they then meet in a central location (laundry room closet). She has just one laptop & it is located in an office type room & hooked up to DSL with a 4 port AT&T router. A 46" HD TV is located in the living room & where the EVA2000 will be located. My plan was to simply connect the EVA2000 to the ethernet jack & TV in the living room. Then connect the office and living room jacks in the closet. And finally, connect the ethernet jack in the office to the 4 port router. I should then be able to simply share any media on the laptop with the...
