Not connecting to internet

Hi, I have been using the Eva8000 for the past one month without much problem. However suddenly yesterday I noticed that it is not connecting to the internet. While doing a basic setup, it gives an error message "File not found" while verifying the internet connection. The Eva is also unable to connect wirelessaly and gives the error 'There were no available SSID's found. Make sure the device is enabled"

I have a wired ethernet connection to my ADSL router which is alright since other computers and my laptop can connect to the internet.

Shall highly appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Thanks.

What version of firmware are you running or have you updated the firmware recently? Have you tried resetting the unit to defaults via the Supervisor menu? Skins can also cause some funny issues and resetting to defaults will change it back to the default skin and usually clear up the issue.

The firmware version is 2.0.159 AU. Have tried resetting the unit to defaults both by Supervisor menu and by the reset button, but no luck. The unit is directly wired to my D-Link ADSL router which is connected to a NAS and my PC. It is not detecting both wired and wireless signals. The problem started after I changed the skin recently. After resetting to defaults it is now showing the default skin.

The Eva unit is listed as a DHCP client on the router but is not detected on my PC or Laptop while running the configuration wizard.

Please help!!

Couple of things to try:

Restart your router and then restart the EVA and see if it gets an IP address. If it does, try pinging it from your PC. If it doesn't get an IP, try setting it manually and retry the ping. Could be it's getting a conflict with a device on your network.

Tried that without any luck. Am unable to set it manually since that page only shows the message "Configure network". I have not changed anything on my network, so it's unlikely to be a conflict. I feel there is a problem in the unit. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try reflashing the firmware. Something may have gotten corrupted in flash. You can get 2.0.159 from here.

Also, what skin were you using? The skin may have caused the issue.....

I was using the default skin "FlareHD" earlier and recently changed to "earthbynight". It is now back to the default skin but the problem is continuing. Could you please let me know the procedure for reflashing the firmware? Thanks

Tried reflashing the firmware with instructions from the link. Am facing a new problem - am unable to key-in eva.img file using the remote. The key-pad does not seem to be working even though all other buttons on the remote work. Is there a workaround for this?

Unzip the file to the root of USB drive. Don't change the name of the file, just add .img to the end of it so you end up with:

EVA8000_2_0_159AU_WEB.img

Plug USB drive into front of unit. Restart the EVA with the drive attached. Once it boots up and your at the Main Menu, go to Update menu and choose "specify location". It should automatically pick up the filename and you can then just right arrow on remote to highlight "OK" and then press "OK" on the remote.

Tried that. The filename still shows "/mnt/usb/". Can't understand why I am unable to use the remote to key-in the filename. Thanks.

Have you tried plugging a USB keyboard in and seeing if it will let you enter text that way?
