EVA8000 and Network shares

Hi everybody,

my WiFi router (AVM FRITZ 7170) has an USB port, where I can connect USB drives. I would like to access them from the EVA, but I could not find out how to tell this to the lady. In my windows network, I see the USB drive as Windows share (\\fritz.box\USBDISK-0-1) (IP does not make any difference) as well as MediaServer "AVM FRITZ!Musikbox" (as below).

How can I configure either or both in the EVA networkshare settings?

 Thanks

 Ulli

If you are seeing the USB drive, and have it "shared" by default, then I would think the EVA would detect it over the network when you scan for available shares. Hopefully someone can provide some more technical details as to what is causing your issue. Maybe if you could post the make/model of your router, that may be helpful to anyone coming by and seeing your question.

Also, the EVA 8000 has a USB port on the front, have you tried plugging in the drive directly to the EVA?

I believe that the Fritzbox only allows access to the drives via FTP connections. The EVA does not support that type of connection.

Just went and looked at the manual for your model and it says that it supports SMB shares. Try entering the information manually on the EVA, easiest way is the EVA's web interface.

Thank you for your efforts. The USB Harddisk is available for the network at smb://fritz.box. Unfortunately I do not know how to enter this in the Host/Share format, the EVA8000 expects. I tried several option but none did work. (e.g. I enter "fritz.box" in the HOST line and a " " (blank) into the share field and it is displayed as "smb://:@fritz.box/ /" (which does not work))
Any Ideas?

Best regards from Munich

Use the share name that is displayed when you connect to it from a computer. So going from your first post you should enter fritz.box as host and USBDISK-0-1 as the share. You also need to enter the correct username and password for the share.
