Network shares

I've got two external hdd's attached to my Windows XP Pro PC, and they both show up as folders to scan, but then when I go to Network test (which tests the speed), one of them shows up as N/A, and of course its contents don't show up. I've checked the permissions, it all seems fine. I've also updated the firmware. Any thoughts very welcome!

Did you check the file permissions also? Make sure Everyone has at least read permissions on both the Sharing and Security tabs.

Permissions is fine - but actually I've kinda worked it out - you seem to need to run the configuration wizard again, and then do a full scan on the Entertainer, and then it comes up.

Hmm, now I have another problem with my DNS-323. It shows up as a server, but then when I do the network test again, it's 'n/a' again. I've tried setting up Twonky Media, but without much luck. But, it's intermittent, sometimes the DNS-323 *does* register on the EVA8000. Very confusing...

It will not work with uPNP servers other then WPM11 for DRMed media (Netgear removed the support for other uPNP servers like Twonky, etc). You need to map directly to SMB shares on the NAS.

Thanks, I've since come across the discussions about the EVA8000 giving only this limited UPnP support. I think I've solved it by mapping onto the IP address....it seems to be working fine now anyway.
