Hanging, and strange menu operation??

Am using all-HDMI conections. If you switch to other HDMI input devices when watching a ripped movie from my Netgear NAS via the EVA8000, and then try to return to the EVA it just diaplays a blank screen showing on the TV. You can't power off using the remote. The only way forward is to reboot it. This is real pain. If you're watching a ripped movie via the EVA8000, and you press the Home button to display the menus, where it just displays a small window of the still-playing movie in the top right, - how do you get back to the movie? I can't find any key on the remote to do this. If you select Swedish (or any other language) subtitles and start playing the movie, and then stop it and try to restart from the beginning, it goes back to the menu option after the language one, so you can't change it back to English unless you power off and back on again. Most DVD have a "Menu" button that takes you to the top level menu. Does the EVA remote have one?

I had a similar occurrence, and I believe that I was able to press the "Menu" key (a small white key) to get back to the DVD top level menu. To get back to the movie after pressing the Home button, I press the Home button again, which closes the menu and brings me back.

I hope that this helps - I'd like to hear from other users here what their experience has been with the remote. I'm not in front of my EVA now, so I can't test what I'm telling you - give it a try and let's see if it works for you!

On my setup, if I switch away from the EVA input (HDMI) to any other input, when I switch back the EVA renegotiates with the TV and sets itself correctly. The power light blinks off and on during the resync. It sounds like  the resync isn't happening or the EVA is getting bad data and locking up. I would try a different cable and also try a different HDMI input on the TV as a start. Also try it on a different TV if you have access to one to see if the problem lies in the EVA or between it and the TV.

Depending on the rip (full menu or movie only), the Menu button on the remote works differently. On full rips, pressing Menu will bring you to the menu on the dvd. On movie only rips, the pressing Menu will display the EVA's audio/subtitle menu where you can change the tracks/language if they are available.
